St. John Bosco Among 7 New Teams Joining 2026 Southern Section Lineup


The Boras Family Foundation today announced the 16 teams competing in the 2026 Boras Baseball Classic Southern Section, to be hosted at JSerra and Mater Dei High Schools.

The annual tournament set to begin April 7-10, 2026, features 16 teams from Southern California to crown its 14th, Champion.

The young athletes arrive eager to face some of the top talent in the Nation and leave it all on the field, for their chance at the Title. More than that, seeing their excitement showcasing their skills to collegiate coaches and MLB scouts in hopes of living out their childhood dreams.”

The 2026 Boras Classic to feature:

  • 48 All-League players
  • 35 Division l commitments
  • 16 Area Code Game participants
  • 10 Top 200 High School Prospects
  • 9 All-CIF players
  • 5 League Players of the Year

Joining the Classic for the first-time are seven teams including, Trinity League 2025 CIF-SS Dl Champions St. John Bosco, Arcadia (14-0) brings Player of the Year Damien Catano, and Fountain Valley with three consecutive 15+ win seasons in the Sunset League. Corona Centennial (22-7) returning seven starters, Newport Harbor (22-7) returning Sunset League Player of the Year Lucas Perez, and 2025 Baseline League Champions, Los Osos (20-9). With five consecutive 20+ win seasons, 2025 Western League Champions, Patrick Henry High School round out the newcomers in the 2026 Classic.   

Teams returning to the Southern Section include 2025 defending Champions Corona (28-3), co-hosts JSerra Catholic and Mater Dei High Schools.

Additional Returning Teams

Huntington Beach – Reigning Sunset League Champions, Huntington Beach (24-5, 16-2) for the 8th consecutive season, return with three All-League selections

Aquinas – Undefeated 2025 Ambassador League Champions return after landing their 5th League Title.

Ayala – Having not had a losing season since 2012, Ayala returns as the 2025 Palomares League Champions (19-9, 13-2), returning Player of the year, Jaden Valenzuela along with Pitcher of the Year, Caleb Trugman.

Gahr— returns six starters from 2025 2nd place finishing team (17-13, 9-3).

Norco – brings seven returning starting hitters, after a 2nd place finish in the Big Vlll (11-4)

Orange Lutheran – returns OC Pitcher of the Year Gary Morse along with two 1st team All-League and three 2nd team All-League selections. After a 2nd place finish in the Trinity League (23-7,10-5) behind CIF-SS Champion, St. John Bosco.

The 16 high school teams participating in the Classic are guaranteed four games, with the championship game slated for April 10th, 6 p.m. at Mater Dei High School.
