Boras Classic of Arizona Returns with 5 All-new Teams Vying for the Ultimate Title


November 11, 2021 – The Boras Family Foundation today announced the 16 teams competing in the 2022 Boras Baseball Classic of Arizona, hosted March 16-19, 2022, after a 2-year hiatus.

Co-host Corona del Sol High School will defend their 2019 Boras Classic Title.

“Returning for our 6th year in Arizona, after an unforeseen delay, we are excited to be back with five new additions to the Classic. Providing this platform for young athletes to showcase their talents to move to the next level of their baseball careers, whether it be at the collegiate or professional level, the health and safety of each player remains our top priority. Working with the State and districts at the local level, we are proud to return to Arizona in the Spring.”

The 2022 Classic is host to:

  • Three 2022 Max Preps Early Top 25 with Bishop Gorman (#10), Hamilton (#11), American Fork (#23)
  • Six 2021 Nationally Ranked Teams – American Fork (UT 6A Champs), Bishop Gorman (NV 5A South Champs), Hamilton, Liberty (AZ 6A Champs), Red Mountain, Reno (NV 5A North Champs)
  • Eight players from the Perfect Game Top 150 in the 2022-24 classes
  • 28 – 2021 Area Code Games players
  • 58 Division l Commitments

Joining the Classic for the first-time are: American Fork (UT) ranked #23 in the country by MaxPreps, Canyon Del Oro (AZ) with a 20-2 record and 8-time State Champions, Reno (NV) returning 1st Team All-League selections including 5A player of the Year Grayson Grinsell (Oregon), Valor Christian (CO) led by seniors Kenan Elarton (Arizona), Keenan Proctor (UCLA) and Brant Kragel, and Tucson Magnet (AZ) returning five 1st-team All-League selections, including League Player of the Year Nick Arias (Grand Canyon).

Teams returning to the Arizona Classic include co-hosts Arcadia and Corona del Sol, two-time Boras Classic Champions Basic Academy (NV), 10th ranked Bishop Gorman (NV), 10-time Arizona State Champions Chaparral (AZ), 11th ranked Hamilton (AZ), Horizon (AZ), Liberty (AZ), Legend (CO), Mountain Ridge (AZ), and 47th ranked Red Mountain (AZ).

The 16 high school teams participating in the Classic are guaranteed four games, with the championship game slated for March 19th, 6 p.m. at Arcadia High School. The Boras Baseball Classic tournament bracket will be made available in its entirety on the Boras Classic website, borasclassic.com, in early 2022.
