Bracket Released for 6th Annual Boras Baseball Classic Southern Section


The Classic boasts six new additions with long awaited Harvard-Westlake all vying for the de-facto State Title

Newport Beach, CA, February 28, 2018—The Boras Foundation announced today the final bracket for the Boras Baseball Classic of California Southern Section beginning April 3, 2018.

The 32-team invitational pits the most elite high school teams from Northern and Southern California, to name a de-facto State Champion.

Leading the Classic are reigning Boras Classic State Champions Huntington Beach High School, coming off of a big season and two MLB draftees in first rounder Nick Pratto and second rounder Hagan Danner. The Oilers look to defend their title with 99th ranked junior Josh Hahn (LHP, UCLA), opening the South tournament facing off of South Hills at Mater Dei at 9 a.m.

“Coming off of what we believe to be the Classic’s biggest year, we are excited to see the 2018 class in action, with so much talented packed into one week we anticipate great sportsmanship for each athlete,” said Scott Boras, Director of The Boras Foundation.

All hoping to take the Sixth Annual Boras Baseball Classic State Title, the Classic will also feature the talents of: JSerra Catholic, Mater Dei, Vista Murrieta, Notre Dame, Corona Santiago, Simi Valley, Newbury Park, Huntington Beach, El Toro, La Mirada, Etiwanda, Cathedral Catholic, Orange Lutheran, South Hills, West Ranch and Harvard-Westlake.

JSerra Catholic and Mater Dei High Schools will host the South Classic, April 3-6, 2018.

The 32 high school teams participating in the Classic are guaranteed a minimum of four games with the championship game slated for April 6th, at 6 p.m. hosted at Mater Dei High School.

Tickets will be on sale for $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. Gates will open at 8:30 a.m. beginning April 3, 2018.
