Four New Teams Join the 2023 Northern Section Lineup
Seven State ranked teams return to vie for the ultimate title as Woodcreek
returns to defend their 2022 Title
Newport Beach, Calif., January 11, 2023 – The Boras Family Foundation today announced the 16 teams competing in the 2023 Northern Section of the Boras Baseball Classic of California, hosted April 3-6, 2023, by Oak Ridge High School.

The 2023 Classic is host to:
- One State Champion; Archbishop Mitty
- Two League Players of the Year; Cole Ehrhorn (Liberty of Brentwood ’23) and Connor Barth (Woodcreek ’24)
- Four 2022 Section Champions; Stockdale (CIF Central D-l), Whitney (CIF Sac-Joaquin
D-l), Archbishop Mitty (COF Central Coast D-ll), and Granite Bay (CIF Sac-Joaquin D-ll)
- 13 – 2022 Area Code Games players
- 41 returning All-League Players
- 20 Perfect Game Top 500 Nationally ranked players for the 2023-2025 classes
- 32 Division l commitments
Four new teams join the Northern section of the Boras Classic including 27-7 Liberty of Brentwood, Lodi, Marin Catholic led by two-way star Carl Schimdt (’23, Texas A&M), and CIF Sac-Joaquin D-l Champions Whitney High School.
Returning to the Classic alongside defending Champions Woodcreek (25-3 record), are 2022 runners-up Archbishop Mitty returning five of six All-League players, Bellarmine College Prepatory returning from a four-year hiatus from the Classic, Cardinal Newman returns with seven All-League players and its entire 2022 pitching staff.
Led by #34 ranked Ryder Helfrick (’23, Arkansas) Clayton Valley Charter returns, as well as 21-win team Clovis West, 24-win team Franklin, Granite Bay, Liberty (Bakersfield) returning Brady Reynolds (’23, Stanford) and Andrew Wright (’23, Fullerton), hosts Oak Ridge, St. Mary’s returns three All-League players, and 2022 CIF Central D-l Champions Stockdale.
All games to be played at Army Depot Park in Sacramento, CA.
The 16 high school teams participating in the North Classic are guaranteed four games, with the championship game slated for April 6th, 7 p.m. A de-facto State Title game will take place April 29, 2023, in Northern California and will be broadcast live on ESPN.
