SoCal Powerhouse Pitchers Open 2019 Classic in Cross-town Rival Face-off Between UCLA & USC Commits

February 7, 2019—The Boras Foundation announced today the final bracket for the Boras Baseball Classic of California Southern Section beginning March 26, 2019. 

The newly redesigned borasclassic.com website now features an interactive bracket, providing live game updates, tournament stats, match ups and more. Coming on the heals of the teams announcement, the 2019 lineup is slated to be the toughest tournament to date.

“Having an idea turn into reality, created a platform for top athletes to pursue their dreams is an exciting moment. After seven years we are proud to once again host 32 of the most elite teams in the State,” said Scott Boras, Director of The Boras Foundation. The caliber of talent to be featured this Spring is unparalleled and proves to be anyone’s Title for the taking. We look to continue to provide a platform for the talent these athletes poses for many more years to come.” 

Winning over 20 games the past three consecutive seasons, the Bellarmine Bells return to the Classic with another seasoned team. Making their Classic debut only one year ago, the Franklin Wildcats come off a championship season as the Delta League Champs bringing three Division l commits and #3 ranked player in the state, junior outfielder Chase Davis (Arizona).

The 32-team invitational pits the most elite high school teams from the North and South, to name a de-facto State Champion.

All hoping to take the 7th Annual Boras Baseball Classic Title, the Classic will also feature the talents of host Oak Ridge High School, with newcomer Frontier, and returners Archbishop Mitty, Cardinal Newman, Casa Grande, Davis, Granite Bay, Heritage, Petaluma, Pleasant Valley, Saint Mary’s, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Serra and Tracy.  

The 2019 Classic is host to:

    • Three 2018 State Champions 
    • Two Nationally ranked teams by Baseball America 
    • 14 participants from the 2018 Area Code and Area Code Underclassman Games
    • 44 players committed to Division l Universities
    • 21 players ranked in the Top 500 of their class by Perfect Game, including 10 players in the 2019 class

Oak Ridge High School will host the Northern Section of the California Classic, April 15-18, 2019, with the Championship game April 18th.
