Interactive Bracket Launched for 3rd Annual Arizona Classic


Ten of the most elite high school teams in the Southwest make their Boras Classic debut in hopes of being crowned the king of the desert 

Newport Beach, CA, January 23, 2019—The Boras Foundation announced today the final bracket for the Boras Baseball Classic of Arizona beginning March 13, 2019. 

The newly redesigned borasclassic.com website now features an interactive bracket, providing live game updates, tournament stats, match ups and more. Coming on the heals of the teams announcement, the 2019 lineup is slated to be the toughest tournament to date.

“With the top 16 teams joining the Classic we knew we had to elevate the fan experience,” said Scott Boras, Director of The Boras Foundation. The caliber of talent to be featured this Spring is unparalleled and proves to be anyone’s Title for the taking. We are excited to once again host this tournament in Arizona as we look to continue to provide a platform for the talent these athletes poses.” 

The two-time defending Boras Classic Champions, Basic Academy take on newcomers Hamilton High School in hopes of becoming three-time Boras Classic Champions. Basic Academy brings top talent with senior pitcher Shane Spencer (Long Beach State), Kyle Turner (3B) and junior John Bobo (1B). Local powerhouse, Hamilton is home of MLBs 2017 Rookie of the Year Cody Bellinger and boasts two nationally ranked players and six Division l commits.  

The 16-team invitational pits the most elite high school teams from Arizona, Utah, Colorado and Nevada, to name a Southwest Champion.

All hoping to take the Third Annual Boras Baseball Classic of Arizona Southwest Title, the Classic will also feature the talents of: Co-hosts Corona del Sol and Arcadia, with newcomers Mesquite (AZ), Bishop Gorman (NV), Mountain Vista (CO), Mountain Ridge (AZ), Cottonwood (UT), Chaparral (AZ), Verrado (AZ), Horizon (AZ), Nogales (AZ) and returners Mountain Pointe (AZ), Legend (CO) and Liberty (AZ). 

The 2019 Classic is host to:

    • Three 2018 State Champions 
    • Two Nationally ranked teams by Baseball America 
    • 14 participants from the 2018 Area Code and Area Code Underclassman Games
    • 44 players committed to Division l Universities
    • 21 players ranked in the Top 500 of their class by Perfect Game, including 10 players in the 2019 class

Corona del Sol and Arcadia High Schools will host the Arizona Classic, March 13-16, 2019. 

The 16 high school teams participating in the Classic are guaranteed a minimum of four games with the championship game slated for March 16th, 6 p.m. at Arcadia High School and broadcast live on ESPN3.
