Boras Baseball Classic of California Returns in 2022 for 10th Anniversary Tournament


Seven new teams to join the Classic for the first time, including Trinity League Servite High School and Sierra Canyon

November 17, 2021 – The Boras Family Foundation today announced the 16 teams competing in the 2022 Southern Section of the Boras Baseball Classic of California, hosted April19-22, 2022, after a 2-year hiatus.

Co-host JSerra Catholic High School will defend their 2019 Boras Classic Title.

The Foundation’s mission is always to provide opportunity, resources and remove the financial burden for the student-athletes that participate in the Classic each year, and we are glad to bring the tournament back in 2022 to continue our mission.”

The 2022 Classic is host to:

  • Eight League Champions; Huntington Beach, Martin Lutheran King, Yucaipa, Villa Park, Sierra Canyon, San Dimas, Point Loma, and La Mirada
  • 24 – 2021 Area Code Games participants
  • 26 – Top 250 ranked nationally by Perfect Game for 2022, 2023, and 2024 classes
  • 68 – Top 100 ranked in California for 2022, 2023, and 2024 by Perfect Game
  • 73 Division l commitments

Newcomers to the Classic include Martin Luther King High School with three ranked players and four Division l commits, San Diego’s two-time league champions Point Loma, Trinity League’s Servite with three nationally ranked players, 2021 Gold Coast Champions Sierra Canyon with six Division l commits, Foothill with #108 Nationally ranked Austin Overn (OF, USC), and 2021 Crestview League Champions Villa Park rounds out the six new additions to the Classic.

Co-hosts Mater Dei with six State ranked players, and 12th ranked JSerra will be joined by returning teams for the 2022 Classic, including; Corona with five Division l players, Huntington Beach whose MLB alumni rosters includes three Boras Classic players, and six 2022 Division l commits, and 2017-2021 Suburban League Champions La Mirada.

Notre Dame returns with five Division l players and a 21-9 record, 13th ranked Orange Lutheran, San Dimas with five commits, St. Augustine with a 2021 record of 24-8-1, and Citrus Belt Champions Yucaipa, all return to vie for the Boras Baseball Classic Title.     

The 16 high school teams participating in the South Classic are guaranteed four games, with the championship game slated for April 22nd, 6 p.m. at Mater Dei High School. The Boras Baseball Classic tournament bracket will be made available in its entirety on the Boras Classic website, borasclassic.com, in early 2022.
