Corona del Sol to Defend Boras Classic Title as Bracket is Released


The Aztecs take on Canyon Del Oro opening day to defend their 2019 Championship Title as the Classic returns for its annual tournament

Co-hosts Corona del Sol defend their 2019 Boras Classic Title and features a pair of two-way players who were also Area Code Underclass participants. Canyon Del Oro holds a 20-2 record in 2021, are 8-time State Champions and are led by seniors Dominic Felix (New Mexico), Marcus Delgado (NM State) and Lucas Cardy (Grand Canyon).

The 2022 Classic is host to:

  • Three 2022 Max Preps Early Top 25 teams with Bishop Gorman (#10), Hamilton (#11), American Fork (#23)
  • Six 2021 Nationally Ranked Teams – American Fork (UT 6A Champs), Bishop Gorman (NV 5A South Champs), Hamilton, Liberty (AZ 6A Champs), Red Mountain, Reno (NV 5A North Champs)
  • Eight players from the Perfect Game Top 150 in the 2022-24 classes
  • 28 – 2021 Area Code Games players
  • 58 Division l Commits

The 16-team invitational pits the most elite high school teams from Arizona, Utah, Colorado and Nevada, to name a Southwest Champion.

All hoping to take the Sixth Annual Boras Baseball Classic of Arizona Southwest Title, the Classic will also feature the talents of: Co-host Arcadia, with newcomers American Fork (UT), Tucson Magnet, Valor Christian (CO), and Reno (NV). Returning teams include, Basic (NV), Bishop Gorman (NV), Chaparral, Canyon Del Oro, Hamilton, Horizon, Legend (CO), Liberty, Mountain Ridge, and Red Mountain.

The 16 high school teams participating in the Classic are guaranteed a minimum of four games with the championship game slated for March 19th, 6 p.m. at Arcadia High School.

Tickets will be on sale for $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. Gates will open at 8:30 a.m. beginning March 16, 2022.
